Firebug Plug-In for Firefox

Tagged:

Firebug LogoI finally got around to installing Firebug (http://getfirebug.com/). After repeatedly hearing good things, the time had come to check it out. I wish I hadn't waited so long. So far I'm only scratching the surface of what it can do, and it's awesome!

If you're doing any web development work you'll definitely want take a look at the screencasts listed at the bottom of this page: http://getfirebug.com/docs.html. The Jesse Newland's Firebug 1.0 screencast page doesn't seem available, but the screencast file can be downloaded at http://files.jnewland.com/firebug.mov

Graphing Requests with Tamper Data

MozillaSimon Wilson recently blogged about a Firefox extension named Tamper Data. Like Wilson, I seldom need to play around with data submitted from the browser. However, the request/response display looks very handy and the graphing feature Wilson highlighted is golden. I could have really used this in my last job instead of resorting to Ethereal.

If you need this feature set, check out the screen shots at Wilson's blog: http://simon.incutio.com/archive/2006/10/17/graph. Tamper Data might scratch that itch.
